A double baby stroller is a lot easier to find today than it use to be. Once thought of as a specialty stroller, the double stroller was hard to get your hands on. Not any more, is this because we have more twins now or is it because the emphasis is on health and mobility, so people are insisting on being active even with two in tow?

Whatever the reason it is great to see double baby strollers out and about. Heads may turn but only to smile and give you the thumbs up and a wink of bravery, thinking to themselves, "Wow, not sure I would be able to handle two at the same time." but you do and they would as well.

Deciding on the style of your double stroller may require a bit of investigating. How much money do you want to spend? Do you prefer a side-by-side model or a front to back inline design, of course if jogging is in your future check out the double jogging strollers as well.

Important factors to consider is size and weight. Naturally a multiple stroller will be heavier than a single stroller but you shouldn't have to take up weight lifting just to maneuver your double stroller. How compact is the stroller when it is folded for storage and how easy does it fold? Will it fit in your vehicle? If your tight for space an option may be the double umbrella stroller, this fits nicely in most compact cars and hides in a closet as well.

Before purchasing your double stroller, if this is your first experience with a stroller here are a few hints and tips to keep in mind.

Does this stroller come with a five point harness system or the standard three. More and more common on new strollers, the five point harness keeps your wee ones from climbing out and with twins you will be comforted to know your child is secure when you turn your back. I really prefer the five point harness system, especially for the rambunctious toddler stage!
Is the material washable on the double stroller. Four hands could make a mess or two so you will want to be able to scrub it down from time to time, if not throw the seats right in the wash if possible. Check out the fabric and manufacturer suggestions on cleaning.
Do you require a rain/wind cover? Does it come with the purchase price of the stroller or do you need to buy it separately as an accessory? Certainly handy to have especially if you plan on a lot of strolling outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions.
The quality of stroller will determine how much you use your double stroller. If you find your stroller frustrating and hard to use, chances are you won't. If it strolls smoothly, maneuvers easily around the store aisles and over bumps, folds up simply and doesn't break your back to lift, you will find it a pleasure to use.
Most importantly, money does not always mean quality. Often a lot of money can be spent and your stroller is still useless. Talk to friends, ask lots of questions and even borrow some kids to test drive your soon to be new purchase. That way you will see what it will be like to push heavier children in a multiple stroller, get a feel for the stroller to see if it is stable or tippy, and if it is easy to push around.

Nothing is more frustrating than a stroller taking up space in the closet because you never use the thing. Do lots of investigating and I'm sure you will find a wonderful double stroller.
